In 2014, Staging Concepts and sister company SC Railing had the opportunity to work together and provide one of San Antonio’s most beloved performance halls, the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts, with updated equipment. The ambitions for the renovation of the theatre included creating a large, multi-use floor and performance space that complimented both the vibrant colors and design of the hall, and also the genuine acoustical aspects. Maintaining the history was crucial, but modern equipment such as glass railings and updated seat platforms were installed. Staging Concepts provided a large Stage Trap system with a maple Tongue & Groove surface in the main theatre, as well as large lobby access stair units. In the studio theatre, a flexible seat platform package was installed to accommodate a 231 seat studio theatre. Materials consisted of rolling SC2000s and bridging SC9600 supports. Large-scale customized systems in the performance hall create many different possibilities for space configuration.
