Staging Concepts couldn’t resist when Florida based architecture firm, Architecture by Design brought a unique challenge to the table. What was the project mission this time? To design and create additional dance floor space for North Florida’s hottest new night club, Recess. Overlooking the iconic Doak Campbell Stadium and the campus of Florida State University, Recess is the perfect blend of urban oasis and rooftop retreat.
With the variety of day and night events planned, the club needed a quick and easy way to transform the space from a relaxing day club into an exciting and full-functioning nightclub. The best way to maximize space at this venue was to take the 2,200 sq ft pool and build a grand dance floor to fit perfectly on top of it.
Working through the initial design phase alongside the architect, Staging Concepts incorporated SC90 platforms with Sandblasted Acrylic inserts for the dance floor. The platforms are supported by Relia Spanning beams that rest inside the perimeter of the pool to create a flush transition from pool deck to dance floor. While Staging Concepts has done numerous pool cover platforms in hotspots such as Las Vegas & Miami, one of the unique aspects of this project was to create an elevated DJ Booth that could be used when the cover was both in place and not. To achieve this, Staging Concepts designed custom columns that supported the Relia beam and worked independently to the rest of the system. The ultimate in poolside opulence, the DJ Booth & dance floor sets the stage for this modern poolside party experience.
